Business
Management and Supervision
The
Management curriculum is designed to provide a sound familiarity
with many intricate but practical business concepts. Furthermore,
it is designed to expose students to the challenges facing
today's managers in both business and industry.
The
process of management is the pursuit of goals. Management
consistently involves four basic functions - planning, organizing,
directing, and controlling. Each function addresses a particular
set of problems and requires a particular set of skills.
Much
of management is people oriented. The importance of leadership,
closeness with customers and employees, motivation, and communication
are lessons that business persons must know well.
The
curriculum is composed of general education courses to broaden
the student's educational base, major required courses to
provide a broad base of management expertise, and a block
of electives. The electives allow the student to build (with
the advice and consent of the program director) a unique educational
experience designed to meet individual needs.
Studies
have shown that students who transfer from community colleges
do as well or better than those who began at the four-year
institution.
Wallace
State instructors have years of experience. They share insight
that might otherwise take students years to learn. With managed
class sizes, Wallace State instructors make sure students
receive one-on-one attention in a relaxed yet professional
environment.
