Wallace State Softball Back on Track with Sweep of Bevill State
SUMITON, Ala.- The Wallace State-Hanceville softball team rebounded after two tough home losses with a sweep of Bevill State on the road. The Lady Lions took the first game 6-1, and the second by a score of 8-3.
Ashley Pratt was the winning pitcher in the first game after pitching the entire game. She struck out four while allowing only one run on three hits.
Lindsey McDaniel swung well for Wallace as she went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, two singles, three RBIs. She also scored a run. Dandi Ammons and Hannah Strength each hit a double, and Strength scored a run in their at bats. Rachel Baucom had two singles and scored a run after going 2-for-4, while Courtney Underwood added another single and scored two runs for the Lady Lions. Pratt also had a single and two RBIs.
In the second game, Holli Hill grabbed the win in six and one-third inning. She struck out eight and allowed only two hits while giving up no runs.
Sarah Wilson had a double and scored a run after going 1-of-3 at the plate. Underwood was 3-for-3 with three singles and two RBIs for the Lady Lions. Baucom and Jena Franks each recorded a single, one run and an RBI, while McDaniel added another single and two RBIs.
The softball team is now 41-8 overall and 3-3 in the conference. They will be at home on Friday, April 13 against Alabama Southern for a double header at 1 and 3 p.m. They will head to Gadsden State for their next game on April 15 for another double header.
