Lions Baseball Win Two at Home versus Lawson State
HANCEVILLE, Ala.- The Lions of Wallace State-Hanceville took two games against Lawson State Friday night by scores of 10-2 and 2-0. The Lions record improves to 30-9 overall and they are now 13-5 in the conference.
Jamie Manning (5-2) led the way on the mound for the Lions in the first game. He pitched seven innings and struck out seven while allowing only five hits and one run.
Jake Elmore went 2-of-2 for Wallace with a double, single, three runs scored and an RBI. Jono Waugh added a single and scored a run. Jorge Williams had a triple and a single, two runs and two RBIs while going 2-for-3 at the plate. Chris Hoffer added a double, single, one run and an RBI, while Bill Henke scored two runs and hit a double in three at bats.
Craig Kimbrell (5-0) pitched a strong, one-hit game for the Lions second victory. He struck out 10 on the way to the win.
Zelous Wheeler had a double and scored a run while going 1-for-3 at the plate. Chase McCain and Chase Oliver each recorded a single while McCain scored a run. Williams hit two singles and had two RBIs.
Wallace will play at home again on Saturday against Lawson at 2 p.m., and will then play at home again on Tuesday against Cleveland State at 2 p.m.
