Lions Softball Extends Winning Streak to Six Games
GADSDEN, Ala.- The Wallace State-Hanceville softball team soundly defeated Gadsden State by scores of 14-0 and 8-0 in two recent games on the road. The shut outs extended the Lady Lions winning streak to six games, in which they have outscored opponents their opponents 53-5. The women are 45-8 overall and 5-3 in the conference.
Brooke Allgood was the winner on the pitching mound for Wallace after five solid innings in the first game. She faced 17 batters and struck out two while allowing only two hits.
Hannah Strength had a double, single, two runs scored and two RBIs after going 2-for-3 at the plate. Delaina Franklin was 2-of-3 with a double and a single as well as two runs scored and one RBI. Dandi Ammons recorded a double, scored two runs and had two RBIs in two appearances at the plate. Lindsey McDaniel scored two more runs, hit a single and had one RBI. Sarah Wilson was 1-for-2 with a single, one run scored and three RBIs. Allgood hit 2-for-4 with two singles, three runs scored and one RBI.
In the second game, Jennifer Sexton led the way after pitching five innings. She faced 19 batters and allowed only four hits while striking out one batter.
Allgood was 1-for-2 at the plate after swinging for a double; she scored one run. McDaniel hit a double and a single, and scored two runs after going 2-of-4. Franklin swung for a double and had three RBIs, while Sexton hit 2-for-4 with two singles, runs scored and RBIs. Wilson added two more singles, one run and another RBI.
The Lady Lions will be at home on Thursday versus Shelton State at 1 and 3 p.m.
