Wallace Track Performs Well in Mississippi



OXFORD, Miss.--The Wallace State-Hanceville track team grabbed a host of
top 10 finishes in their weekend meet at the Ole Miss Jace Lacoste
Invitational.



Glenn Fowler took second place in the 400-meter hurdles despite cold
conditions and a stiff wind. He finished in 52.73 seconds.



In the 5000-meter run, Michael Chapa finished fourth in a strong field
with a time of 15:14.56 minutes.



Thuom Mathiang finished sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of
1:52.50. Mathiang's time ranked him in the top 10 on the NJCAA list for
the event.



The Lions' entered two 4x400 meter relay teams in the event. The first
finished third in 41.67 seconds, and the second finished sixth place
with a combined sprint of 3:19.81.



Evan Lavin's hammer throw of 46.39 meters was good for third place.
Lavin also threw his way to a sixth place finish in the shot put with a
distance of 15.19 meters.



Jeremy Cline hoisted himself to a fifth place finish in the pole vault
event by clearing 4.30 meters.



Carltavious Bell covered 6.54 meters in the long jump placing him eighth
in that event.



David Lowry took ninth place in the javelin throw after hurling the
javelin for 47.29 meters.



Leading the Wallace State women, Geneva Henderson finished the 100- and
200-meter dashes with sprints of 13.71 and 29.26 seconds, respectively.
Tasheilra Jones finished the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.69.



Wallace will head to the Auburn Invitational on Saturday.
