Summer School
Hanceville, Ala.--More than fifty high schoolers from Cullman, Blount, Morgan and Winston counties recently attended a Summer Honors Scholarship reception at Wallace State Community College to learn more about how to register for summer classes.

Summer Honors Scholarship recipients Cassie Tankersley and Kayla Duke from Hanceville High School look through the Wallace State Summer Schedule of Classes. Tankersley plans to purse a degree in law while Duke is a future nursing student.
The Summer Honors program provides scholarships to students entering their senior year of high school. The scholarship covers two three-hour classes that are pre-approved by the student's high school counselor and a Wallace State advisor.
Hanceville High School student Cassie Tankersley registered for academic classes that she can apply toward a degree in History. Tankersley also plans to pursue a law degree.
"This is a great opportunity for Cassie to get a head start on her college education," said Sandra Tankersley, Cassie's mother.
Dr. Dale Palmer, director of extended learning at Wallace State, coordinates the Summer Honors program.
"We are just so proud that we can offer this program to students in our area," said Palmer.
Online registration for summer semester at Wallace State begins April 23. On-site registration begins April 30. For the complete schedule of classes, visit www.wallacestate.edu or call 256/352-8031.
