Lady Lions' Softball Splits Games with Shelton
HANCEVILLE, Ala.- The Wallace State-Hanceville softball team got mixed results Thursday afternoon. They lost to the Buccaneers 1-0 in the first game but rallied in the second to defeat Shelton 4-2. The results move their overall record to 46-9, and their conference record remains at 5-3.
In the first game, Delaina Franklin had a double while going 1-for-2 at the plate. Lindsey McDaniel was 1-for-2 as well with a single, while Amanda Rogers hit another double in her three at bats. Sarah Wilson and Hannah Strength added a single apiece.
Holli Hill pitched the first game and stuck out 10. She allowed only three hits as Shelton scored one unearned run.
Jennifer Sexton picked up the win on the mound in the second game after pitching four innings. She struck out two while giving up only two hits and one run.
The Lions' Dandi Ammons hit two singles after going 2-for-3 at the plate. Courtney Underwood was 1-of-3 with a single and a run scored. McDaniel also scored a run and hit another single while Ashley Pratt was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a single. Wilson recorded a single and stole two bases.
Wallace will be on the road Saturday as the face Calhoun in a conference double header. They will be at home again on Sunday, April 22 at 2 p.m. against Gadsden State for sophomore day.
