Lady Lions Continue Streak with Four Wins at Home



HANCEVILLE, Ala.--The Wallace State-Hanceville softball team continued a
seven-game win streak on Monday with a sweep of Northwest Shoals during
a makeup doubleheader at Bobby McCracken Stadium. The Lady Lions, now
52-9 and 9-3 ACCC, also swept Gadsden State on Sunday.

Lacy Kerr led the Lady Lions to the Game 1 win in five innings of work
on the mound. She gave up one run on six hits, walked one and struck
out five batters. At the plate for Wallace State, Lindsey McDaniel went
3-for-3 with a triple, 3 RBIs and a run. Sarah Wilson batted 2-for-2
with a pair of runs. Rachel Baucom batted 2-for-4 with two runs. Delaina
Franklin had a hit and RBI. Lacy Kerr and Ashley Pratt also had hits.
Hannah Strength and Jena Franks scored runs.



A 10-run second inning helped the Lady Lions Game 2 early. Jennifer
Sexton earned the complete game win over Northwest Shoals after allowing
six hits and retiring seven on strikeouts. Baucom batted 3-for-3 and
scored four times while driving in one run. Wilson was 2-for-3 with 3
RBIs. McDaniel went 2-for-4 with two runs and 3 RBI. Underwood batted
2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a run. Pratt drove in three runs and scored
three times while going 1-for-2 at the plate. Amanda Rogers had a pair
of hits, two runs and a RBI in two appearances. Allgood had a hit and
scored twice. Strength singled in a run and scored. Kaitlyn King scored
twice.



Wallace State 6, 1 - Gadsden State 0, 0



All six runs scored in the first game on Sunday were recorded by Wallace
State in the first inning. Pitching for Wallace State, Kerr threw two
innings and allowed three hits while striking out two. Pratt pitched the
final five innings while giving up two hits, walking three and striking
out nine. Underwood was 3-for-4 at bat, scored a run and drove one in.
McDaniel and Allgood each had two hits, one RBI and a run. Wilson had 3
RBIs with a pair of hits. Baucom, Strength and Pratt each singled and
scored. Franklin had a hit.



The second game scoreboard was almost a mirror image of Game 1. In this
game the lone run came in the bottom of the seventh inning. Franks, who
was 2-for-2 in the game, scored the run that prevented extra innings.
Kerr, Strength and Wilson each connected for two hits. Baucom and
Underwood had a hit apiece. Pitcher Holli Hill started for Wallace State
and struck out one in an inning and two-thirds. Sexton threw the final
five and one-third innings with three strikeouts and six hits.



Prior to the start of Sunday's games, Wallace State
sophomores-Underwood, Franklin, McDaniel and manager Ashley
Grindrod-were recognized.

The Lady Lions will play doubleheaders at home against Snead on Tuesday
beginning at 1 p.m., and Bevill-Sumiton on Thursday beginning at 1 p.m.,
before closing out the season against Columbia State on Friday,
beginning at 2 p.m.
