Lions' Hurdler Signs Scholarship with USF

HANCEVILLE, Ala.- Wallace State-Hanceville's Glenn Fowler has signed a
full scholarship to the University of South Florida and is destined to
run in hurdle and relay races for the University.

"I'm really excited for Glenn. He has always wanted to go to USF and
it's close to his home," Lions track head coach Stan Narewski said. "His
family will be able to watch him run and that will really help him as he
competes for the University."

Glenn Fowler has signed a scholarship to compete for the University of South Florida next year.

Fowler has been running track since the tenth grade at Ocala Forest High
School, where he started out concentrating more on football. "I always
knew I wanted to go to college, and I always dreamed that I could use my
abilities in football to accomplish that. But I really began to enjoy
track and realized that I could reach my dream on the track as well. I'm
majoring in criminal justice so if I don't make a career out of track,
one day I can become a SWAT member."

Dreams became reality for Fowler when South Florida officials came to
his house to present him with their scholarship offer. "I was really
excited when they came to my house. A full ride to a University like
South Florida is incredible. My whole life I've wanted to go there, and
now I finally will be able to. I'm glad I've been able to compete for
Wallace and improve my skills for my last two years of school."

This season at Wallace State, Fowler is ranked No. 2 in National Junior
College Athletic Association for the 400-meter intermediate hurdlers.
His personal best time this year is 52.80

Narewski said, "This is a great opportunity for Glenn. South Florida
offered him a great scholarship package, and the rest of his school will
be completely paid for. I'm really happy for him and can't wait to see
what he will bring to the University."
