Wallace State Holds Scholarship Awards Ceremony
Hanceville, AL-- More than 150 area students who were awarded scholarships by
Wallace State Community College were recognized at a recent awards ceremony held
on campus.
“You are the cream of the crop,” Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Hawsey said to the
honorees. “You have joined one of the finest colleges in the state, in the southeast,
in the nation, and in the world. Our scholarships are very competitive.”
“When you come to Wallace State you will receive not only educational excellence
but a quality of life not found other places. You will have faculty who will nurture,
challenge and encourage you, state-of-the art technology to enhance your learning
experience and a college that will celebrate with you your successes.”
“We are known for our student’s success,” said Hawsey, mentioning PGA Tour Golfer
Brett Wetterich, Cullman County Schools Superintendent Hank Allen and others as
examples.
The college will award more than $600,000 in scholarships this year.
Scholarship recipients at the ceremony are listed by division with photographs.
Wallace State annually awards Presidential, Academic Excellence, Health,
Career/Technical, Performing Arts and Athletic scholarships. The college also
provides scholarships for senior citizens and for high school students participating in
the Summer Honors program.
The Wallace State Alumni Association and Future Foundation also award scholarships
each year.
Additionally, the college provides students with federal and state funded financial
assistance such as Pell Grants, WIA/TRA funds, Operation Family Shield tuition
waivers, Stafford loans, and the college work-study program. Contact the Office of

Registration for summer semester continues through Tuesday, May 29. Classes
begin Friday, May 25.
