FFA District Competition Held at Wallace State
HANCEVILLE, Ala.--High school students from 20 counties were on the campus of Wallace State Community College in Hanceville Friday for the annual Alabama Future Farmers of America (FAA) North District Elimination Competition. More than a dozen Career Development Events, or contests, were held in classrooms and large rooms across campus.
FFA supports and encourages agricultural science education for middle school, high school and college students. Contests are held in the following areas: Agricultural Construction and Maintenance, Agricultural Mechanics, Compact Tractor Driving, Creed Speaking, Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Floriculture, Forestry, Land Evaluation, Livestock, Nursery-Landscape, Parliamentary Procedure, Poultry, Prepared Public Speaking, Quartet Contest, Safe Tractor Driving, Small Engines, and String Band.
In addition to the competition at Wallace State, a Central District competition was held at Montevallo and the South District competition was held in Andalusia last. The winners of each event advance to the state competition on April 5. The FFA State convention at Auburn University June 6-8.
