Wallace State Hosts Aderholt Art Competition, Guntersville High Student
Wins



HANCEVILLE, AL-Alexis Jade Harden of Guntersville High School was named
Best of Show Winner in U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt's Fourth Congressional
District Art Competition held Saturday at Wallace State Community
College in Hanceville.



The competition featured 166 high school art entries from the 14
counties in Alabama Aderholt represents.



"We are so pleased to be able to host this event," said Wallace State
President Vicki Hawsey. "The array of artistic talent on display here is
truly inspiring."

Supporting the arts has been one of hallmarks of Hawsey's tenure at
Wallace State.



This is 10th year of the contest and Wallace State's third time to host
the event, which rotates among locations across Aderholt's district.



"I always look forward to seeing the impressive artwork we consistently
find from students across the Fourth Congressional District," said
Congressman Aderholt. "The art contest is a wonderful way to recognize
talent that sometimes goes unrecognized."

Harden will have her painting, a drawing of a barber shop window titled
"Lost in Time," on display in the Capitol as part of an exhibit titled
"Artistic Discovery." She will also receive trip accommodations from
Southwest Airlines to attend the exhibit opening in Washington, D.C. and
a scholarship valued at up to $20,000 to the Savannah College of Art and
Design .
