Lions Softball in Finals of State Tournament

 

ALABASTER, Ala.- The Wallace State-Hanceville softball team has defeated Gadsden

State, Central Alabama and Bevill State-Sumiton to advance to the championship

game of the Alabama Community College Conference Softball Tournament at

Veteran’s Park in Alabaster on Tuesday.

 

Saturday, May 5 – Wallace State vs. Gadsden State

 

Holli Hill was the winning pitcher for Wallace in Saturday’s 9-0 victory against

Gadsden State as she faced 15 and struck out six while allowing only three hits.

Sarah Wilson hit 1-for-2 with a triple, one run and two RBIs. Ashley Pratt connected

on all three of her at bats for three singles, two RBIs and two runs.

 

Rachel Baucom hit 2-for-3 with two singles and two runs, while Brooke Allgood was

1-of-2 with a single and an RBI. Lindsey McDaniel added another single and a run,

while Courtney Underwood was 1-for-3 with a single, a run and an RBI.

 

Sunday, May 6 – Wallace State vs. Central Alabama

 

The Lady Lions defeated Central Alabama on Sunday by a score of 7-6. Hill got

another win on the mound for Wallace after pitching five innings and facing 20

batters. She struck out three and allowed only three hits.

 

Underwood swung for a home run and a single in her four at bats. She had four RBIs

and scored two runs for the Lady Lions, while McDaniel went 2-for-4 with two

singles, a run and an RBI. Dandi Ammons was 3-of-4 with three singles, and Wilson

added two more singles, another run and an RBI.

 

Pratt hit a single and scored a run, and Jennifer Sexton was 2-for-2 with two singles

and an RBI. Delaina Franklin added a single and a run, while Baucom swung for two

more singles and scored a run.

 

Monday, May 7 – Wallace State vs. Bevill State

 

Wallace took Monday’s game against Bevill State 3-1, and Brooke Allgood was the

winning pitcher for the Lady Lions. She pitched all seven innings and faced 29

batters while striking out five an allowing only four hits.

 

Allgood also hit a single and had an RBI at the plate. Baucom swung for a double,

and Underwood added a single and an RBI. Ammons added another single.
