SCHOLARSHIPS

Wallace State Community College-Hanceville offers a variety of scholarships.  The appropriate scholarship committee reviews all completed scholarship applications.

Students must be an Alabama resident and U.S. citizen to qualify for any scholarships except athletic and private scholarships.  Recipients of athletic scholarships are required to be U. S. citizens.        

Academic

Academic Scholarships are based on a combination of the ACT score and grade point average.  ACT plus grade point average must be 29.  Proof of ACT score and transcripts must be attached to the scholarship application for consideration.  Valid only for enrollment in the Academic Division.  Alabama resident only. Priority deadline is March 1.  Scholarship Application

Allied Health and Nursing  

Available to incoming freshmen or transfer students.  Allied Health and Nursing scholarships are based on the ACT score,  involvement in clubs and organizations, and clinical experience in the chosen field of study. Proof of ACT score, transcripts must be attached to the scholarship application for consideration. Priority deadline is March 1.   Scholarship Application

  Athletic

Athletic Scholarships  are awarded in men and women's basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, golf, tennis, soccer, cheerleading, and track/cross country. A prospective student should contact the Wallace State coaches for try-out dates. Athletic scholarship recipients must complete Athletic Scholarship Recipient Information Sheet.

Leadership

Leadership Scholarships are based on the ACT score, grade point average, involvement in clubs and organizations and a 500 word essay. ACT plus GPA must equal 24. Proof of ACT score, essay and transcripts must be attached to the scholarship application for consideration - valid only for enrollment in the Academic Division. Performing Arts

Performing Arts  auditions are held during the spring semester (late February, early March). Contact the WSCC Music Department for dates and application procedure, (256) 352-8277. 

Senior Citizen

Alabama citizens 60 years old are allowed free tuition for courses at WSCC.  

Summer Honors

Summer Honors is a scholarship program for students who will be Juniors or Seniors in high school for the up coming Fall.  Students who are accepted into the High School Honors Program at Wallace State would apply for a Summer Semester Scholarship award which covers tuition for up to ten semester hours for the Summer only.  To be accepted to the High School Honors Program, a high school student must file an application for admission to Wallace State, carry a "B" average, have a signed permission form from his/her high school principal on file in the Admissions Office, and attend high school in our service area. Technical

Technical Scholarships are based on technical achievement such as VICA competition. Transcripts must be attached to the scholarship application for consideration. Letters of reference are recommended. Priority deadline is March 1. Scholarship Application

Theater

Theater Scholarships auditions are held annually. Contact the WSCC Theater Director for dates and procedures, (256) 352-8191. 

Visual Arts

Visual Arts Scholarships are based on portfolio and interview. Contact the WSCC Art Department for details. (256) 352-8145.
