Wallace State Rider to Compete in Miss Rodeo USA

HANCEVILLE, AL-- Wallace State College Equestrian Team member Leslie Brumleve of Cullman, will be traveling to Oklahoma City, OK next month as a contestant in the 2003 Miss Rodeo USA Pageant. The pageant is held in January in conjunction with the International Finals Rodeo, with the crowning of the winner during a performance of the rodeo.

Miss Rodeo USA is considered a World Champion of the International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA). This intensive weeklong event consists of individual interviews, public speaking, modeling, impromptu questions, written exams, and horsemanship competition as well as public appearances and autograph sessions. By sweeping all categories to win the title of 2002 Miss Ardmore Rodeo, Brumleve qualified to compete in this national pageant alongside twenty-two other very qualified young women from around the country.

In addition to being co-captain of the Wallace State Equestrian Team, Brumleve is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Her speaking platform is “Excellence Through Endurance,” a program using rodeo role modes to teach young people the value of perseverance in being successful in overcoming difficulties.
