Wallace
State Rider to Compete in Miss Rodeo USA
HANCEVILLE,
AL-- Wallace State College Equestrian Team member Leslie
Brumleve of Cullman, will be traveling to Oklahoma City,
OK next month as a contestant in the 2003 Miss Rodeo USA
Pageant. The pageant is held in January in conjunction
with the International Finals Rodeo, with the crowning
of the winner during a performance of the rodeo.
Miss
Rodeo USA is considered a World Champion of the International
Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA). This intensive
weeklong event consists of individual interviews, public
speaking, modeling, impromptu questions, written exams,
and horsemanship competition as well as public appearances
and autograph sessions. By sweeping all categories to
win the title of 2002 Miss Ardmore Rodeo, Brumleve qualified
to compete in this national pageant alongside twenty-two
other very qualified young women from around the country.
In
addition to being co-captain of the Wallace State Equestrian
Team, Brumleve is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Her speaking platform is Excellence Through Endurance,
a program using rodeo role modes to teach young people
the value of perseverance in being successful in overcoming
difficulties.
