WSCC Alumni Association Presents Scholarships

HANCEVILLE, AL

The Alumni Association of Wallace State Community College in Hanceville has awarded 2006-07 Alumni Scholarships to four exceptional Wallace State students.

Sophomores Deniseia Bailey of Killen, a mathematics major; Nakia Reid of Oneonta, a nursing major; Tiffany Greeson of Ider, a diagnostic medical sonography major; and Douglas LeBlanc of Cullman, an English and French major, were each selected to receive a $500 scholarship from the Wallace State Alumni Association. These scholarships will be used for tuition or books at Wallace State during the 2006-07 academic year.

The recipients were recognized at the annual meeting of the Wallace State Alumni Association, held at Traditions Bank last month.

Alumni scholarships are funded by membership dues and proceeds from the annual Wallace State Alumni Run held on campus each spring. Membership in the Alumni Association is open to students, graduates, employees and community supporters. The 2007 Alumni Run is set for Saturday, April 7.

Following the scholarship presentation, new officers were also elected at the annual meeting. The following slate will hold office during 2006-2007: Dale Greer, Cullman Economic Development Agency, president; Gloria Williams, Farm Bureau Insurance, vice-president; Jennifer Hill, Wallace State, secretary; Nesha Donaldson, Cullman Regional Medical Center, treasurer. LaDonna Allen and Wayne Manord of Wallace State and Kim Shrewsberry of CRMC will serve as at-large members on the executive committee. Arnice Weeks, Traditions Bank, is the immediate past-president. The Alumni Association coordinator is Wallace State
Director of Development Suzanne Harbin.

The association will present the 2006 Outstanding Alumni Award nominees and winners during a luncheon reception at Wallace State on September 7. The new officers will also be presented at that event. The public is invited to attend. Call Karen Welch at 256/352-8170 or email karon.welch@wallacestate.edu to reserve a spot.
