II. General WebCT Administration

Disk Space: There are no limitations currently placed on the amount of disk space used for the creation and delivery of WebCT courses.

Course Retention: Courses on the WebCT servers will remain available for students for the current academic semester unless otherwise indicated by the departments or programs.

Service Period: The current WebCT services will be available for faculty and student use until the end of the current academic year. There will be a review of services prior to the end of the service period. If, for whatever reason, the chosen Learning Management System is replaced, assistance for course migration and training will be provided.

System Backups and File Restoration: All materials and content on the WebCT server are backed up daily by Administrative Computing. If file restoration is required please contact the WebCT Administrator at Steve.Merrill@WallaceState.edu or at 352-8184.

System Upgrades: Depending on the availability of product upgrades from the vendor, WebCT system upgrades will take place annually in the summer, prior to the commencement of the fall semester.

   Software patches and fixes will be applied as they become available. Prior to implementation, they will be tested on a non-production server prior to implementation. Instructors, developers, and students will be advised of any scheduled updates via the WebCT homepage. Effort will be made to apply patches and updates at a time that will affect as few users as possible. WebCT users will be informed at least one week prior to the implementation of any changes to the software.

Student Account Creation and Management
All students who have been registered through the Registrar’s Office will have an account created on WebCT within one working day following their official registration. The WebCT Administrator will populate the courses until the semester Drop/Add date. It is the responsibility of the instructors or designers to ensure that student class lists are up-to-date as entered into their WebCT courses.

   The student roll is obtained from the ACCESS system and then uploaded through the WebCT Administrative User Management each semester.  This roll is updated periodically as needed beginning a few working days prior to the first day of class through a few days past the last day of Drop/Add.

   Should a student have problems with the login password, it is at the descrition of the administrator to reassign the password to its initial setting and contact the student by e-mail or phone of the change.
