HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Oneonta Mayor Richard Phillips and the city of Oneonta recently recognized Wallace State at City Hall, presenting a proclamation to honor the college during Community College Month.

“It’s incredibly invaluable for us to be able to offer postsecondary education in Oneonta. Education has always been an important part of our community. We have one of the top-ranked school systems in the state and adding Wallace State to the mix has been a wonderful partnership. Wallace State is one of the most well-known and reputable community colleges in the country,” Phillips said. “I can’t wait to see how much more Wallace State’s presence grows in our community.”

Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Karolewics thanked the mayor for the City’s support and this recognition.  She introduced Wallace State-Oneonta students Martha Chasteen, Payton Oden, Arturo Rico, Oris Andrade, Harrison Jones, Dustin Jacobs, Tyler Cox, Krystal Fields, Yessenia Sanchez and Joshua Hanson, and employees Carla Vise, Angela Doss, Seth Terrell and Matt Jackson, who were present for the event.

Wallace State has been celebrating Community College Month by highlighting the stories of alumni, and with various events this month.

An Open House at Wallace State’s Technical Center will follow next month on May 4, from 5-7 p.m.
