Hanceville, AL — The Wallace State Community College softball team will welcome the Auburn Tigers softball team on Sunday, Oct. 2 to Bobby McCracken Softball Stadium at noon. The pre-season exhibition game is free and open to the public and is the first of several exhibition games the Lions will play with Division I NCAA teams before their season begins in the spring.

WSCC Softball coach Carson Owens said the games provide a wonderful experience for his players as they prepare for the season. “This is about the experience for them,” Owens said. “The players will get the chance to play with Division I teams and possibly scout universities they may want to transfer to in the future.”

The Lions will play the Tigers at noon at Bobby McCracken Softball Stadium, with Auburn playing Chipola College at 2 p.m., and then WSCC facing off against Chipola, a junior college out of Florida, at 4 p.m.

The Lions will play more than a dozen Division 1 teams and will host UNA on Oct. 9. Other games will be played at the Division I stadiums, including the University of Alabama on Oct. 29.
