Softball Triumphs Over Itawamba, 6-3
In a match-up at the ICC Softball Complex, Wallace State Community College secured a solid 6-3 victory over Itawamba Community College on March 3, 2024.
From the onset, Wallace State showcased their prowess by taking an early lead in the top of the first inning, scoring three runs. Their momentum continued as they added two more runs in the second inning and another in the third, steadily building a commanding lead.
However, Itawamba Community College wasn't ready to concede defeat. They managed to put up a fight in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring three runs of their own, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Wallace State Lions' early dominance.
Laura Leigh Wheeler delivered a stellar performance for Wallace State, blasting a home run and contributing two hits and two runs batted in (RBI). Jessie Taylor proved to be a force to be reckoned with, launching two home runs and tallying three RBIs. Emily Hall also made her mark with a home run of her own.
On the defensive end, pitcher Katie Simon showcased her skill, limiting Itawamba to just one run and recording an impressive 10 strikeouts over six innings of work. Lily Boswell came in for relief, containing the opposing offense despite conceding a couple of runs.
