Wallace State Softball Beats Shelton State 8-1
Hanceville, AL — On April 6, 2024, Wallace State Community College's softball team secured a commanding 8-1 victory over Shelton State Community College at the Bobby McCracken Softball Stadium in game 2 of a conference doubleheader.
The Wallace State Lions wasted no time setting the tone, surging ahead with a 3-0 lead in the first inning, putting Shelton State on the back foot early in the game.
The Lions' Laura Leigh Wheeler led the offensive charge, contributing a crucial triple and an RBI to the team's victory. Brandy Phillips and Haley Hollyhand also made their presence felt, each adding a run to the scoreboard.
Bayleigh Rouse, Jadyn Foster and Jessie Taylor capitalized on their opportunities at bat, collectively driving in five runs to extend Wallace State's lead.
On the defensive end, pitcher Lily Boswell delivered an energetic performance, stifling Shelton State's offense with five strikeouts and conceding only one run throughout the game.
