Time: 2 to 4 p.m.
Where: Oneonta Academic Center, 101 First Ave. West, Oneonta

ONEONTA, AL — Wallace State Community College’s Oneonta Academic Center will hold an information session for anyone interested in learning more about the Nursing classes offered at its location.

The Nursing Information Session will be held on Monday, April 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. The Academic Center is located at 101 1st Ave. West in Oneonta.

Nursing information sessions provide prospective students with data they need about applying to the program, requirements and more. Those attending the session will earn one point toward their overall score used in the admission process.

The first cohort to take classes at the Oneonta campus is currently in their second semester of classes. Applications are currently being accepted for the next cohort that will begin in Fall 2024, with a May 15 deadline to apply.

“The response to offering nursing classes at the Oneonta campus has been remarkable,” said Deborah “Pepper” Hoover, chair of the Wallace State Department of Nursing Education. “We are excited to carry that momentum on and welcome a new cohort of students in Oneonta. We encourage anyone thinking about taking nursing classes at the Oneonta site to attend the information session to ask questions and learn more about the program and the application process.”

The nursing classes offered at Oneonta allow students to complete the first three semesters of the traditional associate degree program. Students successfully completing those three semesters earn a certificate and can sit for the NCLEX-PN licensure exam to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Students can choose to enter the workforce and/or continue their education at the Hanceville campus to complete the final two semesters of the associate degree program, earning an Associate in Applied Science degree and eligibility to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam to become a registered nurse (RN).

As of Fall 2024, hybrid classes will be offered to students taking classes in Oneonta, with online lectures available in real-time and in recordings, in-person labs at the Oneonta Academic Center, and occasional simulations at the Hanceville campus.
