Wallace State Volleyball Sweeps Calhoun Community College

Hanceville, AL — The Wallace State Volleyball team secured a 3-0 victory in a conference matchup against Calhoun Community College on Oct. 20, with set scores of 25-20, 25-21 and 25-21.  

Freshman Kailey Dickerson of Wellington led the way for Wallace State, recording 13 kills and 17 digs, while also contributing two assists. Freshman Amanda Monge of Davenport, Fla., added 10 kills, 18 digs, one block and one service ace. Sophomore Chloe Jackson of Athens contributed seven kills, two digs, two blocks and two service aces. Freshman Rachel Mecklenburg of Madison showcased her versatility with 11 kills, six digs, 14 assists and one block.  

Freshman Abby McDonald of Fairview had a solid defensive performance with 12 digs and three service aces. Freshman Ali Price of Rainsville provided 22 assists and added 12 digs to the team's effort. Sophomore April Burgess of Alabaster registered one kill, one dig and one block. Freshman Aliana Quesada of Orlando, Fla., tallied one dig and one block.  

The team will next compete against Southern Union State Community College at home in a double header showdown on Oct. 24, with games beginning at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Following this matchup, the Lady Lions will compete in the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Region 22 Championship Tournament at Sand Mountain Park and Amphitheater in Albertville on Nov. 1-3.   

Wallace State is ranked first in the ACCC North Division Volleyball standings. The Lady Lions are currently 9-1 in the North Division and 31-9 overall.
