Hanceville, Ala. — More than 30 students were recently recognized during a pinning ceremony for the Diagnostic Imaging Class of 2024 from Wallace State Community College.

“As your program director it feels me with immense pride to stand before such a talented and driven group of individuals,” said Dr. Jim Malone, Diagnostic Imaging Program Director and Assistant Dean of Health Sciences. “The journey that you have undertaken in Diagnostic Imaging is not just about applying technical skills. It is about embracing a calling to make a profound difference in the lives of others.

“In these rapidly advancing professions, your role goes far beyond capturing images,” he added. “It extends to becoming the compassionate skilled professionals who bring clarity to the complexities of health.”

Program Clinical Coordinator Kelli Rich defined the Class of 2024 with the word perseverance.

“We’re all here today and we’ve all made it, and we’ve all persevered,” Rich said. “Everyone of you have the tools you need to be successful in your profession. You have the knowledge to pass your registry, and you have the knowledge you can go on for so much more. Don’t ever stop learning. Learn something new every day.”

“I want to start out to say how proud I am of this class,” said class president Sophia Pierce. “You all have worked so hard for this moment and here we are, a thousand hours of clinical later.

“Not one of us have done this alone,” she added. “We are a patchwork quilt of those who have loved us, those who have believed in us, who have shown us kindness and empathy, those who have given us grace and those who have taught us to dream.”

Along with Pierce, other class officers include Severeth Sorrell, vice president; Breezy Martin, secretary; Jessica Butts, secretary; Michigan Chambers, treasurer; Emma Allen, representative; Emilee Strout, representative.
