Young, Anderson Receive ACCC Postseason Awards

Hanceville, Ala. — Two Wallace State basketball players earned postseason awards from the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) for Division I in a selection process voted on by conference coaches.
Sophomores Kami Young and Kendarius “KJ” Anderson were each named first-team all-conference.
“This is a well-deserved honor for Kami Young and KJ Anderson,” said first-year Head Coach Faron Key. “Both guys are very coachable young men and great teammates.”
Young is a 6-foot-2-inch point guard from Atlanta, Ga. He leads the ACCC overall in points per game with an average of 22.7 points. He also leads in free-throws, with an 87.6 average from the line. Young is ranked third overall in points (544), assist to turnover ratio (2.2) and points per 40 minutes (30.7), and fourth in assists (117).
“Kami performed at a high level all season and really became a great leader for us on the court,” Key said. “He had multiple 30-plus point games and one 40-plus game this year. I am really proud for him.”
Anderson is a 6-foot guard from Tuscumbia. He is first overall in three-point percentage
at 42.1 percent, third in points per game (19.5) and fourth in points (508) and points
per 40 minutes (29.8).
“KJ has put on a shooting clinic all season long for us,” Key said. “He's made 110 three-pointers this year and has had multiple 30-plus point scoring games and one 40-plus. point game.
The Lions claimed the regular season title and are defending their 2024 ACCC title this weekend in Division I Basketball Tournament at Spragins Hall on the campus of the University of Alabama at Huntsville. The Lions take on Lawson State in the semifinals today at 6 p.m. The game will be streamed on the JoxJive YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@JockJiveSports. The finals will be aired Saturday on Alabama Public Television.
