Evelyn Burrow Museum to Host Community Art Exhibition Celebrating Pets

Hanceville, Ala. – The Evelyn Burrow Museum at Wallace State Community College is inviting the campus and community to take part in a heartwarming new exhibition, For the Love of Pets. This special showcase will celebrate the deep bond between people and their pets through art.

As part of the exhibition, community members are encouraged to submit artwork featuring their pets. Submissions can include photographs, paintings, drawings, multimedia, or sculptures, as long as they are display-ready. All two-dimensional pieces should be framed, matted, printed on canvas or similarly prepared to ensure they are suitable for exhibition. Many local and online retailers offer photo quick print services, even on canvas.

“We wanted to create an exhibition that highlights the special connection between people and their pets,” said a museum staff member. “This is an opportunity for students of all ages, employees and community members to showcase their creativity and share the joy that pets bring to our lives. For some it will be the joy of a current pet and for others it may be a tribute of a pet they remember. We hope it will be a way for people not only to offer a celebration of their furry family members but also to connect with others around their pets.”

Artists of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate. Participation is free. Please bring submissions to the Evelyn Burrow Center at Wallace State during regular business hours Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Submissions are encouraged through mid-April and will be accepted longer as space is available. The exhibition will open in April and be on display through Summer.

As part of the exhibition, a contest will be held to choose a People’s Choice winner, where visitors to the exhibition can cast votes for their favorite artwork.
