Wallace State Volleyball Sweeps Ellsworth, Wabash Valley at Blazer Classic

Makenzie Noles goes for the kill in a match earlier this season.
VINCENNES, Ind. – Wallace State volleyball continued its unbeaten start to the season with a pair of straight-set victories on Friday at the Blazer Classic hosted by Vincennes University.
The Lions opened the day with a 3-0 win over Ellsworth Community College, taking sets 25-15, 25-21 and 25-17. They followed with another sweep, defeating Wabash Valley College 25-15, 25-18 and 25-23.
Sophomore setter Ali Price directed the offense with a huge day, finishing with 64 assists and 24 digs across the two matches. Abby McDonald anchored the back row with 25 digs, while Sofiia Sobol added a balanced performance of 21 digs and 17 kills. Makenzie Noles provided a strong attack at the net with 21 kills, and Kenzie Wilson stood out defensively, registering 12 blocks.
Head coach Randy Daniel praised his team’s effort, particularly in tight moments.
“Yeah, it was a good day for us. I thought the team fought and showed some resiliency when sets got close late,” Daniel said. “Cheyenne Lucas did a great job scoring when we needed to make plays late in several sets. Kenzie Wilson did a great job in both matches blocking. Just growing as a team and finding ways to win close sets is our focus.”
The wins improve Wallace State’s record to 11-0 as the Lions gear up for one of their toughest tests of the early season on Saturday. They will face host Vincennes University and Mineral Area College, the latter ranked No. 17 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll.
“Vincennes and Mineral Area are NJCAA Division I undefeated teams,” Daniel added. “I look forward to seeing how we battle those talented teams.”
