Wallace State Softball Clinches Doubleheader Sweep Against Southern Union at Lady Bison Softball Stadium
Hanceville, AL – Wallace State’s softball team secured a doubleheader sweep against Southern Union Community College with a 7-4 victory in Game 2 of their conference matchup on March 14, 2024, at the Lady Bison Softball Stadium.
In a back-and-forth battle, Wallace State emerged victorious with a resilient offensive performance. Laura Leigh Wheeler led the charge for Wallace State, going 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI. Wheeler's consistency at the plate was instrumental in the team's success, setting the tone for Wallace State's offense.
Jadyn Foster delivered a standout performance for Wallace State, showcasing her power with two home runs and three RBIs. Brandy Phillips and Jessie Taylor also contributed to Wallace State's offensive efforts, each tallying hits and RBIs to help bolster the team's lead.
On the mound, Katie Simon pitched 4.1 solid innings, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out five batters. Lily Boswell entered the game in relief and battled through 2.2 innings, securing the win for Wallace State.
