Baseball Takes Series Win Over Frontier Community College

HANCEVILLE, AL — The Wallace State Community College baseball team opened their 2025 season with an impressive series victory over Frontier Community
College, winning three out of four games at home. The Lions showcased dominant pitching and timely hitting to secure
the series win.
In Game 1 on January 31, Wallace State edged out Frontier in a tightly contested 3-1
victory. Pitcher Luke Fernandez led the way, allowing just one hit over six innings
while striking out ten. Lee Cody closed the game with a strong seventh inning, securing
the save. Riley Jackson provided the offensive spark with a sacrifice fly that drove
in a key run.
Game 2 was a breakout performance for the Lions, as they cruised to an 8-0 shutout
win. The offense exploded for eight runs in the fifth inning, while the pitching staff
limited Frontier to just two hits. Wallace State’s balanced attack and aggressive
base running proved too much for the visiting team to handle.
On February 1, Game 3 saw Wallace State secure the series with a solid 4-1 win. Strong
pitching continued to be the key factor, while timely hitting and defensive execution
ensured victory. Despite a late push by Frontier, the Lions held firm to take their
third consecutive win.
In the series finale, Frontier Community College salvaged a 6-2 win, capitalizing
on early offensive production. Wallace State battled throughout the game but was unable
to overcome the early deficit. Despite the loss, the Lions demonstrated resilience
and defensive discipline.
