Wallace State Jazz Band Hosting Annual Big Band Dance

The Wallace State Jazz Band will hold its annual Big Band Dance on Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m., at the Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts.

Hanceville, Ala. — Wallace State Community College will host the annual Big Band Dance on Friday, April 17, at 7 p.m., in the Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts.

The event will feature the Wallace State Jazz Band and the WSCC alumni Jazz Band. More than 20 former Wallace State Jazz Band musicians plan to attend and perform with the group, representing alumni from the late 1970s to more recent graduates from the Class of 2025.

“We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wallace State Jazz Band,” said Ricky Burks, chair of Wallace State’s Fine and Performing Arts programs and director of the Jazz Band. “We are excited to welcome former members back to the stage, including one from the original 1976 band.”

The concert will feature a selection of classic Big Band favorites. Audience members are encouraged to hit the dance floor or simply relax and enjoy the music from their seats. 

Admission to the Big Band Dance is a $10 donation for adults and $5 for students and children under 12. Tickets will be sold at the door.

  • Spring Under the Stars and Stripes, April 23
  • Broadway Night, April 30
  • I Am a Pilgrim, July 23-25
